While he has never kept his love for gaming a secret, Post Malone has made a large investment into the future of esports after purchasing part of the company Envy Gaming. The esports company, which holds some of the biggest competitive gaming organisations in the state of Texas, recently announced that the artist has an “undisclosed equity stake” in the company. Post Malone’s personal announcement has focused solely on his ownership stake of the online Call of Duty League team Dallas Empire.
Envy Gaming owns a large number of esports teams across a variety of games, including Overwatch league team Dallas Fuel. Post Malone, on his part ownership into Envy Gaming, expressed his connection with Texas as an underlying element to his investment. He said:
“I grew up in Texas and I’ve been gaming my whole life, so this just really felt right…I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit.”

This isn’t the first foray into the Video Games industry by Post Malone. The Verge reported that the artist has had endorsement deals with HyperX, a gaming peripheral brand, and has done work as a live-streamer.
Those not attuned to the competitive video game industry might find this purchase by Post Malone unusual, however he is not the first artist to enter into the world of video games. In fact, Offset, Drake, and The Weekend have all made investments into their own various gaming brands. Many other artists have been venturing into, and experimenting with the industry since its inception. While not all successful, a 1998 venture into video games by the band Queen flopped, we are yet to see how Post Malone’s own investment will go.
His partial ownership of Envy Games is not Post Malone’s first business outside of music. Earlier in 2020 he announced he was launching his own wine label. Maison No. 9, a rosé, sold 50,000 units in just 48 hours. It is probably correct to say that no investment made by Post Malone will be boring.
